Clean, safe water is one of the most important things in any home. After testing different systems, dealing with Florida water challenges, and installing these setups in our own home, this is the exact combination we personally use and recommend to our family and friends.

This guide explains why this setup works, what each part does, and why we trust it enough to use it ourselves.

The Two‑Part System We Use at Home

We use a whole‑house filtration system (installed in the garage) for all water entering the home, and a reverse osmosis (RO) system with UV for drinking and cooking water.

Here are the exact systems we use:

This combination gives us clean water everywhere in the house and ultra‑pure water at the sink.

1. Whole House Filtration (Aquasana Rhino)

This is the foundation. It filters all the water coming into the home so showers, sinks, laundry, and appliances all get clean, chemical‑free water.

What it removes:

• Chlorine
• Chemicals and VOCs
• Pesticides and herbicides
• Heavy metals
• Sediment
• Odors and tastes
• With UV: 99.99% of bacteria and viruses

Why we like it:

• No chlorine smell

2. Salt‑Free Conditioner (Included in the System)

This helps reduce scale buildup on fixtures and inside plumbing.

Important to know:

• It does not remove hardness minerals
• It does not eliminate spots on glass
• It’s low‑maintenance and requires no salt

We prefer salt‑free because it’s simple, clean, and doesn’t require constant refilling.

3. Why Spots Still Happen

Even with great filtration, minerals like calcium and magnesium can still dry on glass and leave spots. They’re harmless — just minerals — but they do leave residue. The only way to eliminate spots completely is a traditional salt softener.

4. Salt Softener Option (If Someone Wants Spot‑Free Glass)

We don’t offer these and we personally wouldn’t want one, but here’s the difference:

• Remove hardness minerals
• Eliminate spots on glass
• Require regular salt refilling
• Need power and a drain line
• Can be inconvenient if you travel
• Mainly for people who want spot‑free shower doors

They’re not needed for purity — only for aesthetics.

5. Drinking Water: Reverse Osmosis (Waterdrop G3P800 + UV)

This is where the premium water comes from. RO removes what whole‑house systems can’t.

What RO removes:

• Fluoride
• Arsenic
• PFAS
• Nitrates
• Pharmaceuticals
• Microplastics
• Dissolved salts and metals
• With UV: additional disinfection

This is the water we drink, cook with, and use for coffee and tea. It’s even better than bottled water — including Zephyrhills and others like it.

6. Do You Need a Shower Filter on Top of This?

No. The whole house system already removes everything a shower filter would. Shower filters cannot remove hardness minerals or improve purity beyond what this setup already provides.
